This is due to non-inclusion of captive generation capacity in regular reporting
What is being reported as a year-end and monthly analysis of power sector in India, does not include captive power capacity
72 GW of installed thermal capacity (coal 46 GW, gas 6 GW and diesel 20 GW), representing around an extra 30% of the utility sector, is under the captive capacity during FY 2023-24
This led to a share of non-fossil fuel capacity dropping to 40%. In comparison, it is 45% when just utility data is considered
