India just met and exceeded the capacity addition target once in the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17)ย 

๐Ÿ’ฅย The last five years have been brutal when capacity addition has not even crossed 50% of the target.
๐Ÿ’ฅย 2022-23 and 2024-25 have seen the lowest percentage capacity additions ever, with 17.9% and 23.5%, respectively.ย 

โœ…ย But 2025-26 may be different, with 40 percent capacity already achieved at the end of October 2025.
โœ… The target for 2025-26 is 20965 MW. By the end of October 2025, 8380 MW had been achieved. This includes 5060 MW thermal, 2620 MW hydro, and 700 MW nuclear.ย
