𝗣𝗠 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗴𝗵𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 (PMSG: MBY) grows at a slow pace – likely to miss the March 2026 and March 2027 targets
🦠 In the two years since launch, PMSG: MBY achieved tremendous success, covering around 2.8 million households and 8.4 GW of installed capacity.
🦠 Budget 2026 increased PMSG: MBY funding by nearly 29%.
🦠 After a steep decline in November 2025, monthly registrations hit the highest figure of 0.32 million in January 2026, but total registrations were still below the August high of 0.64 million.
🦠 Installed capacity under PMSG: MBY grew at just 4.64% during last month.
👉 To reach the target of 12 GW capacity and 4 million households by March 2026, an average capacity of 1806 MW per month (against 687.8 MW added in January 2025) and 0.6 million households per month (against 0.23 million households added in January 2025) would be required.
👉 To reach the target of 30 GW capacity and 10 million households by March 2027, an average capacity of 1544 MW and 0.51 million household coverage per month would be required.
▶️ The government has set an ambitious target of 4 million households coverage by March 2026 and 10 million by March 2027 with cumulative capacity of 30 GW.
▶️ Against this target, 2.84 million households were covered by January 2025 with a cumulative capacity of 8389 MW.
